This past year in Schoolwear…

This year has been the most challenging year to date in the Schoolwear industry.  You will no doubt be aware of the international shipping crisis that was exacerbated by the Suez canal issue! Add to that the extended lockdowns in the majority of countries that manufacture clothing or fabrics, problems at the ports and then the shortage of delivery drivers in the UK, it’s a wonder we managed to survive back to school.

The crisis hasn’t gone away, and reports suggest the international shipping issues will not go back to pre-pandemic levels until June 2022 (and that is without any further lockdowns) and so for that reason we are urging all schools to decide on any changes early as orders need to be placed by the end of the year to ensure we get them in time for summer.

The Government finally adopted the ‘Cost of School Uniforms’ bill.  The Schoolwear Association has worked closely with the department of Education on this and you can find some guidance on it here  If you need any further guidance please don’t hesitate to get in touch however I can assure you that all schools we provide uniform for are working within the parameters set out in the guidance.
